Ahhh… summer is upon us, surely bringing with it fourteen-hour skate days, blueberry/cherry hybrid Icees, and beach trips aplenty! And what better way to enjoy fun in the sun than with some HOT new Runner Up releases!? Well guess what? New records are dropping – so slap on some sun screen peep the details!

While the rest of the world will be sipping on pina coladas and getting down with island vibes, the homies in BEARINGS will traversing the whole of the United States in a moving sweatbox for their first ever US tour. All of the dates are up in the tour section, but there are still a few that they could use some help with booking. Check these cities and dates out and shoot them a message if you think you might be able to hook something up. I’ll see to it that you get goodies out of the deal!

The band will be touring with their new LP, “Exist.Expire” in tow, and I’m psyched to say that it totally rips! Expect 30 minuets of seven big, juicy jams in the vein of TRUE NORTH, SMALL BROWN BIKE, and RAINER MARIA. We’ve got 200 of these on gold vinyl and 100 white ones for pre-order.  The LP will also come with a free download code and will alternatively be available on iTunes . But yeah, the record is great and I can’t wait to hear what people think of it. The whole thing will be streaming on Punknews.org real soon. For now, check out “Summer Soltice” on their MySpace page. The record is a follow up to their self-titled 7″ and split with Pswingset. Speaking of the 7″, they’ll have the new press of that on the tour as well.

WHAT IS UP EVERYONE!? spring is AWESOME and summer is coming up really quickly! there is so much cool stuff in store here in runner up land, so let’s get right to it.

first of all, i’m really excited to announce that we’ll be releasing HIGHTIDE HOTEL‘s debut LP this summer! YES! the record, titled “nothing was missing… except me”, will feature 11 rippers, including re-recorded versions of old classics. i was about to draw some comparisons to some usual suspects, but realized that they’ve outgrown them with the new record. it’s really something unto itself.  so, recording for this is finished, and we’re definitely looking get this out pretty quickly. you’ll start hearing more about the new LP in the next few weeks. in the meantime, catch up or become acquainted by checking out the records to which “nothing was missing” will serve as a follow-up. we still have a handful of the split 7″s with BY SURPRISE, and are available through both bands as well. NO SNOOZING ALLOWED!

repress time is here! we have a fresh, locally-grown batch of represses for BEARINGS‘ debut 7″ EP as well as the split between SHOOK ONES and END OF A YEAR. the BEARINGS press is on white vinyl and out of 200 – same hand stamps and jackets as before. the SHOOK ONES/END OF A YEAR press is on black vinyl (it was actually supposed to be on sky blue, but there was a goof) and limited to 300 for right now. i imagine that this tiny press will sell out pretty quick, and we’ll have a new batch ready if that’s the case. i know a good amount of people have orders on hold because we didn’t have the record, so all of those are going out tomorrow and saturday. thanks for being patient!

speaking of END OF A YEAR, they are a few days away from starting their full US tour to rainfest in washington. they will have the split for sale at shows. so, if you want this repress but don’t want to pay for shipping, go there and buy it from them. BY SURPRISE is finishing recording on their debut full length LP. no word yet on who they will be releasing it through, but i just thought i’d mention it to get the juices flowing now. i’ve heard the demos and they are great.

DAVE HOUSE has a couple of new projects going on right now, including PACER and THE FINAL FIVE, the latter of which is a battlestar galactica-themed melodic punk band. i get 0% of the references!
